Currently, LED lighting is at a fairly advanced point compared to traditional lighting and either for aesthetics, to take advantage of the space we have at night or by necessity, most people want to have lighting in their garden. That’s why from Venalsol Smart light we want to help you with this blog.

CHOICE OF GARDEN LUMINAIRES
When lighting the garden, you can choose different types of luminaires, such as street lamps and LED spotlights, these types of luminaires are usually installed in facade or on post. There are also solar street lamps.

SOLAR LED STREET LIGHT (SOLERO)
As mentioned above, in Venalsol Smart Light we have the solar LED lamp of the Solero family, which is perfect for lighting installations in all those gardens where there is no electricity network, as it can be a detached villa out of town.
OTHER POINTS TO CONSIDER
When choosing a luminaire to illuminate our garden, first we will take into account the previous point, about whether a luminaire is chosen vial or projector. Then other points should be taken into account such as:
- Colour temperature: this value is used to indicate which lighting colour the luminaire produces. The lower the temperature, the warmer the color produced. In outdoor lighting, for some communities such as Catalonia, the regulation requires that this value does not exceed 4000K (neutral white).

- Angle of aperture (optical): Today there are optics with different angles of aperture, thanks to this it is possible to modify the shape of the lighting produced by a luminaire, being able to focus the light in one point to achieve a higher level of illumination with a closed lens, whereas if an open lens is used, the level of light will be lower, but greater light coverage will be achieved. There are symmetric and asymmetric optics. In Venalsol Smart Light, we carry out 3D light studies so that we can advise our customers on the optics that best suits their needs.

- Protection Index (IP): This is one of the important points when mounting LED lights outdoors, as the luminaire will have to withstand adverse conditions and must be able to withstand them. This value indicates the level of protection it has against solid and liquid elements. The IP degree of protection is formed by 2 numbers, which indicate:
- - 1st Number: Degree of protection against solid elements
- - 2nd Number: Degree of protection against liquid elements
1st DIGIT | PROTECTION |
---|---|
0 | No protection against foreign objects. |
1 | Protected against solid objects of more than 50mm. |
2 | Protected against solid objects of more than 12.5mm. |
3 | Protected against solid objects of more than 2.5mm. |
4 | Protected against solid objects of more than 1mm. |
5 | Complete protection against dust inside. |
6 | Complete protection against dust penetration. |
2nd DIGIT | PROTECTION |
---|---|
0 | Unprotected. |
1 | Protection against vertical water dripping. |
2 | Water drip protection, maximum 15°. |
3 | Protection against spray of water maximum 60°. |
4 | Protection against splashing water in any direction. |
5 | Protection against water jets. |
6 | Protection against strong water jets. |
7 | Protection against eventual immersion. |
8 | Protection against prolonged immersion. |
- Degree of protection (IK): Also to be taken into account is the IK protection, which indicates the resistance provided by the equipment envelope against external mechanical impacts:
Code IK | IK00 | IK01 | IK02 | IK03 | IK04 | IK05 | IK06 | IK07 | IK08 | IK09 | IK10 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Impact energy (Jules) | * | 0.15 | 0.20 | 0.35 | 0.50 | 0.70 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 10 | 20 |
YOUR GARDEN LIGHTING STUDIO
In Venalsol Smart Light, through a 3D simulation of the areas that want to illuminate our customers, we carry out a free light study, thanks to this we can get out with values and visually how much lighting reaches each point.
Thanks to these values obtained, we advise our customers on what type of luminaire, power and optics are best suited for their needs, thus achieving a great light comfort and economic.

Thanks to the overvoltage protection of our luminaires, it is possible to deliver the correct voltage for its operation and at the moment a voltage peak appears, this is diverted by the cable to ground so that it does not affect the luminaire.
