There are values to be taken into account when choosing a good luminaire for outdoor lighting, some of them are named below: The efficiency of the system, the angle of opening, the desired temperature color or required by the regulations depending on the place to be installed, the colour rendering index, IP and IK protection, over-voltage protection, glare factor, etc. Some of these parameters are explained below.
System efficiency: this value indicates how many lumens the luminaire is capable of producing per watt consumed. Therefore, the higher the value, the more efficient the luminaire will be. In Venalsol Smart light, we have luminaires of 130-200 lm/W, which are high efficiency.
Angle of aperture: this value indicates the aperture that will have the light beam of the luminaire, in order to focus the light on a point with a closed optics or extend the coverage of the lighting with an open optics. Color temperature: this value indicates the color of the lighting that produces the luminaire, being the whitest color when the temperature is higher. In some communities in Spain, the regulation requires that the temperature of outdoor lighting is less than 4000K (neutral white).
A very important factor when mounting an outdoor luminaire is the degree of IP protection, as the luminaire will be exposed to adverse conditions and must be able to withstand them. The IP degree of protection is formed by 2 numbers, which indicate:
-1st Number: indicates the degree of protection against solid elements.
-2nd Number: indicates the degree of protection against liquid elements.
